They will bill you directly. 1st Commerce Rates are shown above. For preferential processing and discounts enter HN005210 in the referral# area. You can then order your transaction server and gateway access. STEP 3 Gateway Access Order Gateway access charges are $200 for setup and $45 monthly. NO TRANSACTION FEES. (Others charge $500-$1000 for setup and up to $80 monthly). Gateway access gives you real-time payment processing capability. A payment processing service handles credit card transactions between a web store and merchant account in real time, taking approximately 10 to 20 seconds.
Note: If you do not wish to use the transaction server/gateway and the 1st Commerce merchant account, you may choose another solution such as CyberCash and your own internet compliant merchant account, but this may not be supported by our "turnkey package" and some configuration may be required.For non real-time processing you can submit your web store orders separately through your standard merchant account using our Web Store only. Can I apply for an Internet Merchant Account for a business based outside the U.S.? Yes. The major owner(s) (51% or more) must have a physical U.S. address, a U.S. Social Security Number and a U.S. bank account that accepts ACH (Automated Clearing House) deposits.
What is a Chargeback? A chargeback is when a customer calls their credit card company disputing a charge because the products/services were not received. If the merchant can not prove otherwise, then the charge is refunded to the customer at the merchant's expense.
What if I already have a merchant account, can I use this for the internet? No. Most people have a Retail Merchant Account already. If you want to do real-time credit card processing on the internet, then you must obtain an Internet Merchant Account. They are both separate, you don't have to cancel one account to get the other.
What happens after I'm approved? You will be given some account information that must be provided to your gateway provider to complete the e-commerce solution. They will be able to integrate the gateway with your web site. Once your ecommerce solution is provisioned, you will be able to accept orders and payment via your web store. You will be able to view the status of your orders through a web interface by using a a user ID and password.
Do I have to have a gateway? Yes. Your Internet Merchant Account does not work without it.
What is a Gateway? The Gateway is like an encrypted channel that passes the transaction securely from your customer's computer to the financial institutions to capture the authorization and approval. Once the transaction is complete, the information is sent back through the Gateway to complete the order and provide you with verification. The Gateway is also necessary for the secure transfer of funds from your customer's credit card to your merchant account. The Gateway offers many administrative features such as: viewing orders, keeping sales tax records, etc.
How am I billed for the Merchant Account fees and the Gateway fees? Your merchant account fees will be billed by Cardservice International and will automatically be drafted from your merchant account. Your gateway fees will be charged directly from your gateway provider (except the set up for CyberCash in which case initial fees will be sent with your merchant account application.)
How long does it take for my Merchant Account to be approved? It usually takes between 2-14 days from the time the application is received by 1st Commerce. This is a general time frame and could take longer if there are problems with your application. It also depends whether or not 1st Commerce needs any additional supporting documents to process your application. If so, we will contact you.
How long is it from the time of authorization until the funds are deposited into my account? 3 days.
